The guidelines below are taken from the NYS Clinical Guidelines providing critical information for dealing with Pre and Post Exposure prophylaxis following an occupational events.

  1. HIV Prophylaxis Following Occupational Exposure - Learn how HIV transmission can be significantly reduced by the administration of antiretroviral (ARV) agents
  2. HIV Prophylaxis Following Non-Occupational Exposure Including Sexual Assault - Guidelines that address HIV post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) following occupational exposure and sexual assault. The purpose of this document is to provide recommendations and guidelines for prescribing PEP following non-occupational exposure to HIV including sexual assault
  3. Post-Exposure Prophylaxis Quick Reference Card - Summary of New York State Department of Health AIDS Institute recommendations for PEP following occupational exposure or sexual assault
  4. HIV Post-Exposure Prophylaxis For Children Beyond The Perinatal Period - These guidelines have been developed to help medical providers identify and treat pediatric patients with potential HIV exposures.

The PEP, Testing and Diagnosis Center targets emergency departments, urgent care providers and private providers to increase screening for HIV, identify unrecognized infection, and implement post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP and nPEP).  This center also operates the PEP Line, a 24-hour provider consultation line for the management of Post-Exposure Prophylaxis.
